About Me

I am Claire Archibald, Member of the Senedd for Ceredigion Penfro and Reform UK’s Shadow Minister for Social Care.

I was elected in May 2026 to represent the people of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. This is my home. I live here, I have worked here, and I understand the realities of rural life in West Wales. The distances, the strong community ties and the frustration when decisions made in Cardiff Bay feel completely disconnected from everyday life on the ground.

Before entering the Senedd I served as a councillor for the Monkton ward on Pembroke Town Council. That experience taught me the value of practical, local representation and the importance of being available to people when they need help.

My background is rooted in care. I have worked as a carer and have personal experience of supporting people through serious illness and the end of life during my time as a palliative care support worker. I have also worked at Withybush Hospital and in fast-paced settings as well as working with organisations such as Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, whom I  hold deeply to my heart. I know first-hand how vital good care is not only for the person receiving it, but for the families and unpaid carers who often carry the heaviest load. Too many carers are left exhausted, unsupported and unheard. That has to change.

I entered politics because I believe rural Wales has been treated as an afterthought for far too long. Services have been centralised, community care has not kept pace with hospital changes, village and Church schools have been put under pressure, and practical issues like transport are often ignored until it is too late. I want to change that.

My approach is straightforward. I listen to constituents across the constituency, raise their concerns in the Senedd, and keep pressing until we get proper answers and real action. I am here to represent everyone in Ceredigion Penfro regardless of how they voted and to stand up for the communities that make this part of Wales special.
